Came across this tune from a recording of Tunes From The Goodman Manuscripts and loved it. He ard another version of it by Goitse’s album Ur in this key which took my fancy. Their arrangment and tune that follows it “The Truce” is fabulous.
What recording is that, Steve?
Lisa Shields, who completed her late husband Hugh’s work on Vol. 2 of the Goodman manuscripts, is a friend I’ve got to know through two sessions we play in (weekly, under normal conditions!). I’d like to play her the compliment of helping to bring the tunes back into the session repertoire, but am not a great one for the black dots, so getting them at least halfway by listening is my preferred option.
