Spoutwells

A Strathspey from Dougie MacLean, “Fiddle”. I’ve tried it on the pipes too in Amix.
The title is from an establishment of Holiday Farm Cottages in Galloway, Scotland.
Now here’s a curious glitch in ABc transposition: a note following a double-eighth with the dot on the second note (the snap) has to have DOUBLE the normal time. So to achieve a quarter note after the dotted eighth, what’s normally c2 is written c4. Dotted quarters are e.g., C6.

Nothing of the kind. “Spoutwells” is in Dunkeld. Dougie uses local names for a lot of his tunes.

Re: Spoutwells

It’s not a glitch, Steve. It’s incorrect use of the abc code, in particular > and <.

> halves the length of the following note and increases the length of the preceding note by 50%.
< halves the length of the preceding note and increases the length of the following note by 50%.

Your pickup and first bar should read should be: A2 | D2 F<D c2 BA |.

Got it. Thanks for the edits and corrections.
