The Black Isle

A fine 9/8 Retreat March composed by Pipe Major Donald MacLeod MBE and published by him in his own collection.

There is an unrelated Retreat March in 3/4 time by Pipe Major G. S. MacLennan also name The Black Isle and published in The Gordon Highlanders Collection.

Thanks for posting this. Great tune. But at the end of the third line, did you mean to have tied two dotted low Gs? The MacLeod Book 4 version just has one dotted G and one un-dotted. To my ear, the timing works better that way.

MacLeod Books 1 and 4 are gems. One under-appreciated, underplayed 6/8 march is Echoes from Caithness, from Book 1.
