A setting of “She’s Sweetest When She’s Naked”? https://thesession.org/tunes/17517
Yes, same tune, though clearly been through the “folk process”!
This appears in David Johnson’s book, “Scottish Fiddle Music of the Eighteenth Century” as “Miss Faw’s Minuet (She’s Sweetest When She’s Naked)”. Seems minuets were popular as Scottish country dances in the mid 18th century, but the musicians often didn’t know any, so they would take a 3/4 air or a jig, change the tempo and phrasing to suit the minuet dance steps, then rename it after the wife or a daughter of whoever was hosting the dance. She’s Sweetest When She’s Naked is a jig, probably 17th century. Makes one wonder about Miss Faw, did she know the original name of the minuet named her honour? Maybe she did, and maybe she was.
