Re: The Winding Roads Of Advance

I think the title of this jig is incorrect. The album, On Common Ground (Cillian Vallely, Kevin Crawford), does indeed have a tune called The Winding Roads of Advance, but it is a reel (track 1). It was written by James Kelly. According to the liner notes for the reel on the Kelly CD (Traditional Irish Music) the title, The Winding Roads of Advance, came to him when he was visiting a fiddling friend, Fred Lail, who lived in Advance, NC at the time. The jig posted here is also on the On Common Ground CD as The Ivory Flute (track 6). My guess is that the person who posted this jig picked up the wrong title for the tune. I don’t know how corrections are made to entries in thesession.org data base, so I don’t know if it’s possible to remove this title from the jig or not.
