I Have No Money

This is a fairly common session tune, though many of the players I’ve heard knock it out don’t know a name for it. Most who do have a name call it I Have No Money, but Alan Ng’s web site also gives Miss Hamilton as an alternate title. I’ll stick with the lack of money, cuz I like the contrast with the kick-up-your-heels, giddy melody line.

In the A part, on whistle or flute, I’d roll the long A in the 1st and 5th bars. On fiddle, I’ll do any of the following:
| FAdB ABAG |
| FAdB ~A3G | (an open string roll)
| FAdB (3AAA AG | (bowed triplet)
| FAdB (3ABA AG | (slurred triplet)
| FAdB [A2A2] AG | (doublestop with the 4th finger, 3rd string A and open A string)

In the B part, I sometimes play high b’s in the 6th bar:
| afeg fbbf |

Usually played as a single reel, that is, ABAB.
