Jota De Desiderio

This is not a mazurka, it is a jota. This is in 3/4 as well but it has the first of the three beats as the most important in the melody.

This way of doing the 3/4 can be found all over Spain but in these regions in the north with music similar to ITM these tunes have a flavour that makes them recognisable from those regions.

This tune belongs to the repertoire of a well known piper in Asturias called Nela. He is from Bres, a town very close to the border to Galicia. That is why he plays the Galician bagpipes instead of the Asturian ones.

I transcribed the tune from this video were the piper is playing with a fellow piper and a clarinet, they are playing the tune in Bb major.
