Tip The Cruiskeen

Tune number 380 in Francis O’Neill’s recollection of tunes The Dance Music of Ireland.

This setting is the one made by the Breton band Gwendal. This band was really legendary in the 70’s in Spain, and this tune in particular was the one that made them popular.

This setting of the tune is the one played by Gwendal in their first cd Irish Jig, were the tune is called Irish Jig. They simplified a bit the melody of the original tune that appears in O’Neill’s but they used it almost like a jazz standard.

I will post a second setting with the original tune in O’Neill’s.

Tip The Cruiskeen, X:2

Original version that appears in O’Neill’s transposed to Dmaj. I took it from the mobile app Tunepal were it is written that the transcription of the tune into ABC was made by Frank Nordberg.
