It is not the same tune as that on the Skylark recording listed above.
Lunasa Version
Lunasa plays this tune in the key of A minor on The Kinnitty Sessions recording.
So what’s the common key then?
Oo, let me guess. The one that Lunasa *doesn’t* do it in.
So it’s Bb then?
Eh?
Well, anyway, I was playing through this tune last night and suddenly noticed its similarity to the Curragh Races https://thesession.org/tunes/1760. Perhaps they’re related.
The tune on Skylark and The Maiden Voyage albums is actually "The Mountain Lark"
. . is very close to the dots posted here (and in the same key).
Re: Brendan McMahon’s
Pretty sure this is the "correct" key. I also found the tune in one of Breandán Breathnach’s "Ceol Rince na hÉireann" books (can’t remember which volume- sorry!) and it is in this key there as well.
