New century hornpipe

I first heard this tune on the Kathleen Collins CD Irish Traditional Music, and have tried ,without much success, to transcribe it from the CD. I think that it is played in D, in this version.

New Century

Kathleen Collins played one of the various Blackbirds and titled it the New Century for some reason. Puzzling that she would have the same title for a different hornpipe her ex-husband recorded. Yet another New Century is in Ryan’s and was recorded on cylinder a century ago by violinst José Zaffiro.

The O’Neill’s setting has one sharp; Joe or some other Galwegian flattened that F to give this tune its monolithic sound.

The New Century, X:5

I can’t remember for the life of me where I got this setting from but it seems like a mix of both Padraig Rynne and Molloy/Keane/McGlynn settings — and a mix of the two main versions posted on this page. I like it that way!
