The Plassey On The Rocks

This tune is the title track on Thomas Walsh’s album. It is a lovely tune, whose title refers to a ship wrecked on the coast of the island of Inisheer. Thomas Walsh visited Inisheer frequently, and composed the well-known waltz Inisheer after a holiday on the island.
The picturesque wreck of the Plassey is a well-known tourist sight on Inisheer. It was wrecked in 1960 and remains as a rusted hulk.
I’ve written this in the form AABBCC, because it is easier to follow, and is likely how you would want to perform it for others to learn and play at a session. However, on the album, Walsh performs it as AABB AABB CC B CC AB.
