Huggaremamma

Polska from the Swedish province of Närke. It is said to have been named after an old woman carrying the nickname "Huggaremamma" (Cutter mum), (I can find no explanation to why she got the name) who sometimes assisted a blind fiddler called "Blind Nyberg".

Re: Huggaremamma

As written in X:1 this is in 6/4 (0r maybe 3/2). As a polska, 3/4 would be the usual convention. There’s a 3/4 setting at: http://www.folkwiki.se/Musik/1448.

Re: Huggaremamma

Actually I had written it like it is on the page you linked to, in 3/4, but the thing is that I didn’t notice (my bad) that the default L code on the waltz on this site is 1/8 and not 1/16 as I had written it, (and also how it’s written on the Folkwiki page), which caused the converter to interpret it as 6/4, although it obviously should be in 3/4 (just as it is written in the time signature), with the crotchets as quavers and the quavers as semiquavers. And now I can’t adjust that, it seems.

Thanks swisspiper. 🙂

Re: Huggaremamma

Although, the D in the last bar on the third row should be a D sharp.
