Sporan Dhòmhnaill
From the playing of the Battlefield Band on “Beg & Borrow”. Track #7.1.
From the sleeve notes:
This first tune is everywhere. Alasdair knows it as ‘Sporan Dhòmhnaill’. Allan MacDonald has it down as ‘Pòsaidh Beathag an Ceard’ (Beathag will marry the Tinker) in Scotland. In Ireland it is known as ‘My Mind Will Never be Easy’, ‘The Whistling Thief’ and ‘McAleer’s Jig’. It is also the strathspey ‘Munlochy Bridge’ and the tune of the Scots song ‘Woo’d and married an’ a’’.
