Samon Tail

A nice wee tune from the Rook manuscript (tune collection dating back to the 19th Century; very interesting go have a look! https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/musicfiles/rook/ ) that stood out to me from the odd b part with 5 bars. Would recommend warning any accompaniment players of this in advance 🙂 !

I did check the spelling and it is definitely SAMON not SALMON in the book. I would guess that its just an older spelling so I don’t think too many people would mind if you added the ‘L’, but I thought I would be true to the manuscript and spell it this way!

Re: Samon Tail

Samon is the Gallic version of Samhain although given the title also includes ‘tail’ it probably is referring to the fish…
