A nice wee tune from the Rook manuscript (tune collection dating back to the 19th Century; very interesting go have a look! https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/musicfiles/rook/ ) that stood out to me from the odd b part with 5 bars. Would recommend warning any accompaniment players of this in advance 🙂 !
I did check the spelling and it is definitely SAMON not SALMON in the book. I would guess that its just an older spelling so I don’t think too many people would mind if you added the ‘L’, but I thought I would be true to the manuscript and spell it this way!
Samon is the Gallic version of Samhain although given the title also includes ‘tail’ it probably is referring to the fish…
