Red Gordon’s

I heard this tune played by Troy Troy MacGillivray on his CD Tune Poets and after much searching I found the ABC for this tune in the traditional tune archive and it is noted that the tune can be found on page 41 of the Book by Gordon F. MacQuarrie – The Cape Breton Collection of Scottish Melodies (1940) I was lifted from my breakfast porridge when this tune played on my Iplayer to search for the notation so that I could play it on my Northumbrian smallpipes.

Re: Red Gordon’s

The third bar would be better represented as |dfba gfed| rather than the odd grouping copied from the TTA.
Also Troy usually ends the parts with d2 dc d2 rather than d2 f2 d2.

Played swung and taken at a fair lick, probably around the 110bpm range.
