There is already a tune of this name posted https://thesession.org/tunes/70. The settings there are mostly based on the tune that Planxty popularised or settings in D of a related tune (from the North?) This present tune has a first part that is similar but the the other two parts are quite different and therefore it should be considered a different tune. This setting is based on the playing of Denis McMahon, Timmy O‘Connor and Paudy Scully. A similar setting is in Johnny O’Leary’s book. The Chieftains played this slide on Chieftains 3; a transcription of their playing, by turophile, is included as X:2 on https://thesession.org/tunes/70, but here is a better home for it.
Re: Merrily Kissed The Quaker
NB tune a fiddly variation of “Merrily Danced the Quaker’s Wife”. Everybody know THAT tune. Still, worth adding this as a curiosity!
