‘The World’s Room’

This is from the Old Bind Dogs cd ‘The World’s Room’… The name of it is the ‘Aird Ranters’ strathspey, written by Fred Morrison. They play it on the cd with an unnamed Branle

“The Aird Ranters” ~ ???

One odd tune? Is something missing from this? I’ve given it here without change except to order it more usually for a Strathspey, slow or no…

ceolachan, this version might make more sense:

T: The Aird’s Ranters
C: Fred Morrison
M: C
L: 1/8
Q: 1/4=152
R: strathspey
K: Am
A/ | e<a a>e g<e e>d | e<a a>e g<e d2 | e<a a>e g<e e>d | c<A A>G c<A A3/2 :|
B/ | c>c B>d c<A A>G | c<A A>G c<A A>B | c>c B>d c<A A>G | c<A A<G A2 A3/2 :|

I’ve put it Am rather than Ador - either will do. Am would imply perhaps an F chord at the end of the B part, Ador a D chord. (Listen to Session A9 to hear what I mean). And look, just for you I’ve left spaces either side of the bar lines.

And, of course, I forgot to correct the title to "The Aird Ranters". Growing old (or older) does not come easy to my dull brain.

Fred Morrison’s own version

This is the original version from Fred’s book. He plays lots of variations live. This is probably the most popular contemporary strathspey at Scottish sessions.
