The Green Cake

This beautiful F#minor reel has been doing the rounds over the last few years at sessions around New Zealand and Australia. It was composed in 2010 by Wellington accordion player/whistler Jonathan Berkahn.

The B part really grabs people’s attention in sessions! Great F#minor tune for all instruments with plenty of opportunities for cuts and triplets.

Re: The Green Cake

Thanks for the version in G — that is a nifty reel

Re: The Green Cake, X:2

Careful with the G Major version cause that is a completely different tune 🙂
The original and only way is the F# Major version. Easy on any instrument; whistle, box, fiddle, etc
Happy playing
