Á Perpignan

This tune was requested by Jens on the FB whistle group.
From the album Musical Journey by Cormac Breatnach and Martin Dunlea, track #3.2. They play it in Ddor/Dmin but I’ve transposed it to play in tune on a C whistle.

I quite like it. Loads of variations that I haven’t included. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information about it whatsoever? Do we know who wrote it and what the story is? I know Perpignan is a city in France so I assume it’s related? 🙂

Á Perpignan, X:2

Composed by Cormac Breatnach. From the liner notes: “(A Perpignan was) composed to commemorate the Irish delegation’s appearance at the first European Federation of Associations of Traditional Music and Dance conference, held in the South of France at the end of October, ’97, of which I was proud to be a part.”

In the recording he is playing Susato C-whistle, with Maire Breatnach on fiddle, and Niall O Callanain on bouzouki.
