The Autograph, X:2

This setting is from the way that Eamonn Cotter plays it on The Knotted Chord. Since Eamonn made my flute, and this tune starts my favorite set from his album, I figured I should try to learn it the way he plays it. This tune is an old one, appearing in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection in 1883 (https://www.itma.ie/digital-library/score/ryans-776), and in an old cylinder recording from 1908 (https://www.library.ucsb.edu/OBJID/Cylinder3303).

Re: The Autograph

I’m curious whether this tune is played in anyone’s local Irish session, and, if so, in what key? I see/hear it in B flat in some sources. I think that Kanako Machida is playing win D. In what key does Eamonn Cotter play it?

Thanks in advance,

Beth
