Another gem of a strathspey from Gerald Trimble’s “First Flight”, learned from the pages of Kerr’s. His version seems played a fair bit different then the original sheet music. This is the way I learned it and it’s really one of my favorite tunes to play. I love really exaggerating some of the snaps and letting others straighten out a bit.
Re: Irish Folk Music
In Ireland, as so often happened, this changed into a reel called “Eileen Curran” or “Sailor’s Return”: https://thesession.org/tunes/132
Re: Lady Hamilton Of Dalrymple
I knew I’d heard it somewhere before - @Nigel Gatherer, you are a wonder!
I like both the Scottish and the Irish versions & will definitely be playing them.
Thanks, @Cloudling & @Nigel.
