This tune was composed by Paddy O’Brien the button accordeon player from Offaly. It is also known as " The Small Hills of Offaly ". It is recorded on " Is it yourself " by Paddy O’Brien and James Kelly.
This is such a beautiful tune peter. I didnt realise it was a Paddy O’Brien tune - I shouldve guessed he has such great tunes.
on second thought - is your name even peter? 🙂 oh well nice tune anyways.
Paddy O’Brien
To avoid any confusion, it was composed by Paddy O’Brien "the younger" - (as Peter says, from Offaly,) - not the late Paddy from Nenagh, which is maybe who bb was thinking about.
The first part almost sounds like a Creole biguine!
Keep It In D Maj.
I play this tune with the D Maj ending, sounds much better to the ears.
