Uncle Leo’s

I got this tune off the wonderful Ashlar album by Nova Scotia band, Cóig. (https://thesession.org/recordings/6620) They named the set Uncle Leo’s, and the tune is listed in the recordings here as that name as well, so I thought I would transcribe it.

I do not have the physical album, so I don’t have liner notes to tell me more about the tune, but I’m guessing that they wrote it. I am going to purchase the physical CD for that purpose, in fact, because I enjoy the whole album.

This tune sounds modern to me, partially because the A part is crooked, with 3 measures of 9/8 followed by a measure of 6/8. (The B and C parts are solid 9/8). You can listen to their recording here (starting at 2:35): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WZPxVkyDdQ
