The Bridgetown has been added to 3 tunebooks.
From the playing of Wexford accordion player Tommy Stanners from Murrintown, near Wexford. It sounds a bit like ‘The eel in the sink’ but played in a different key. The Piercestown/Murrintown area produced a number of very fine melodeon/accordion players, including 2 times All-Ireland winner Paddy Hayes, (Button accordion and concertina) , Paddy’s brother, Tommy Hayes, All-Ireland three row champion in 1980 Davy Roche and Paddy and Tommy’s father who played with the ‘old’ Mayglass ceili band in the 1930s /40s.
