John MacDonald’s

I just checked to see if this tune was here, out of curiosity.

It’s not Irish but still very popular “Here in Scotland” .

Composed by Jimmy Shand.

I notice that the default time signature for marches here is 4/4 but I sussed out that you can change the metre in the main text area. Ah dinnae ken if that’s the recht thing tae dae or no’
🙂

Re: John MacDonald’s

Named for John MacDonald, a policeman based in Auchtermuchty (Shand’s town of residence in Fife) during the 1960s. He played the moothie (harmonica).

Re: John MacDonald’s

Thanks, Nigel.
I didn’t know the history behind the tune even although it is very popular.
