Re: Wade’s Welcome To Inverness

Hi
Audio not working?-missing notes

Re: Wade’s Welcome To Inverness

Yes, it’s VERRY odd, isn’t it?

Re: Wade’s Welcome To Inverness

It’s because Johnny Jay has used hyphens (ties) as a short cut for pairs of brackets (slurs). Whilst this looks ok on the page the audio just doesn’t know what to make of things like B<-d-A or B2-A so just plays the first note. These examples should be written as (B<dA) and (B2A).

Johnny Jay?

Hi Donald,

Your information seems to be correct and, I apologise, I’ve made this mistake before.

Amended now,

Re: Wade’s Welcome To Inverness

Hi Jonny
About 15 years ago you put up Nelson Mandelas Welcome to Glasgow which was played tonight on radio Scotland.
There is very little difference in the way the tunes run and feel.I will find it difficult to keep them apart in my head when playing them?
Has the modern redition by Runrig accidently evolved from the earlier tune?

No problem, Johnny. I have to regularly revise how to do things in ABC and, for example, after 15 years of using it, I still can’t remember offhand whether accidentals come before or after a note.

Re: Wade’s Welcome To Inverness

Thanks, Donald.

The tune still didn’t sound quite right and I checked it again for further errors. Needless to say, I found a couple. 🙂

It’s probably “recht enough” now or as they would say in Inverness “Right Enuff”
