A Happy Day In June, X:2

This is more of a slow jig, composed by Lauren MacColl for Jenna Reid and Iain Sandilands’ wedding day.
This transcription (X: 2) is taken from Rant’s 2016 recording (on Reverie) and is phrased slightly differently to Lauren MacColl’s original (see bandcamp link above), but it should also make more sense as to where the downbeats are. Rant play the first part repeated but not the second.
And, of course, the tempo is slower than PLAY AUDIO gives here.

Re: A Happy Day In June

In the RANT recording Sarah-Jane Summers is playing a Hardanger fiddle while the other three fiddles are tunes AEAE, I think. I really like the simple pizzicato accompaniment played by the Reid sisters.

Thanks for that transcription DonaldK. I think I agree that it does indeed make it clearer where the rhythm flows if it’s written with dotted beats in 6/8 🙂
