Paddy Fahey’s

I’ve been adding “new” Paddy Fahey tunes as I find them on recordings. This is from Eilis Crean’s “Searbh Siúcra” Track 2.2. This is Paddy Fahey’s Reel No. 16 from Maria Hollohan’s dissertation. As far as I’ve been able to find, this is the only commercial recording of this reel.

I put the tune in A Dor rather than minor. Eilis plays one quick F# and an f natural (ornament) which would suggest natural minor but the Hollohan version has a quick f#. I naturally hear it as dorian I think because of the melodic lines within my listening experience. You may hear it differently. I’ll add the Hollohan dissertation below as well.
