Frenzy Polka

An unusual polka with a > 2 octave range, recorded by Cormac Begley on his self-titled album on a standard-tuned C/G treble concertina. According to the liner notes, this tune was composed by his father, Brendan Begley.

Re: Frenzy

Transposed down to Emin, it doesn’t seem too unusual, although you’re correct that most tunes fall within two octaves, so one that’s slightly more would by default be unusual 🙂

The part that makes it really unusual is just the placement on a standard concertina, I think, as most people don’t play quite that high… usually.

It’s a great tune, anyway!

Re: Frenzy

Good call Nico, Emin would probably be the best key to play this in if one were tempted to bring this to sessions.

My C/G concertina doesn’t even have an F natural in the 3rd octave!
