As Covas Do Rei Cintolo

It sounds like a Breton an dro.

As Covas Do Rei Cintolo

Is it an old tune , or it’s a Nunez composition ?

Saint-Patrick’s An Dro?

The last time I saw Nunez it concert, he said it was a breton tune.

It’s also in the album “Un Galicien en Bretagne”, track 9. It is called “Saint-Patrick’s An Dro”… and it’s traditionnal!

Re: As Covas Do Rei Cintolo

it is a tune often played in brittany as “ andro de la saint Patrick”
"andro is a breton dance

Re: As Covas Do Rei Cintolo

We’ve played this (St-Patrick’s An Dro) with a bombarde and pipers for dancers as a set with ‘The Wren An Dro’. The Chieftains have included local pipe bands playing this tune with them during their United States appearances.

Re: St. Patrick’s An Dro

Following my posting of the video link above, a friend asked me to record those Breton tunes again, but this time in the keys they would normally be played in, so here they are.

I’ve played St. Patrick’s An Dro twice in this set, the first time is in the key which Carlos Núñez recorded it in on his LP - Un Galicien En Bretagne & which I prefer, but the 2nd time is in the key more usually heard in sessions.

I’m playing them on English Concertina, Mandolin, Hammered Dulcimer & Fiddle.

Re: As Covas Do Rei Cintolo

I play this in D maj as St Patricks’ An Dro. It gives it a much stronger presence. I also play this with Dans Plin and Das Frisal. I will add them if they are not already on the Site.

Re: As Covas Do Rei Cintolo

Second tune is a mispelling and should be Dans Fisel. Oops

Re: St. Patrick’s An Dro

We play it in Bm
