Requested by Andee. Learned from the Dublin women’s group "Macalla" (1st LP). Also recorded by Conal O’Grada.
Oh, Kenny—thank you soo much!
Great tune! I learned this from Conal at a workshop about a year and a half ago. Tune isn’t played at sessions around me that often, so on the rare occasion that it pops into my head, it feels kinda good. Puts me in a good mood 🙂
Hi Jason—yeah, I have it on a Cd where it follows Up Sligo, those 2 tunes sound great together!
This is in the Foinn Seisiun tune sets book 2 as the Old Kilfenora, but I don’t hear it played in sessions that often either.
It now also appears on ‘Taking Note’ by Meitheal Cheoil, launched two days ago. I was just about to post it, but I see it’s already here.
I’ve just discovered that this is very popular in North Clare in a threesome where it’s followed by Club Céilí (also known as The Old Favourite) and then Jim Ward’s. The Kilfenora Céilí band play this set and you’ll also find it on Garry Shannon’s new CD, Punctured.
