Waltz From Orsa

A lovely tune from Sweden.Buttons And Bows recorded it,and I hear it now and again in sessions,so I suppose it’s an Irish tune by adoption.

Waltz from Orsa

This tune has also been recorded by Kevin McLeod on the CD Springwell (mandolin with accompaniment by Alec Finn and Frankie Gavin)

Waltz from Orsa

Has been recorded by Sian Phillips on CD Gramundus with the Welsh spelling Walts Orsa

Macklins Vals From Orsa

Also recorded by Fiddler’s Bid on their CD ‘Naked & Bare’
For some reason there is no link to that recording for this tune.

Fixed it hetty 🙂

Macklins Vals From Orsa

My transcription from the playing of Fiddlers’ Bid on their CD ‘Naked & Bare
Only a few small differences but sometimes small differences can make a big difference. No doubt it’s probably obvious that I prefer their Take on the tune and their CD is ‘beautiful’.

Vals from Orsa

I learned this in the 1970s from a wonderful LP, Folk fiddling from Sweden: traditional fiddle tunes from Dalarna played by Björn Ståbi & Ole Hjorth (1970, Nonesuch H-72033). These guys added beautiful second fiddle parts, some of which I transcribed at the time. Main tune matches Dafydd’s of 9 yrs ago except a note or two; no energy at the moment to abc the 2nd fiddle. But I WILL upload another 2-part tune from that album - Polska from Enviken - if it’s not on thesession yet. I’m sure it’s really British/Irish…… 😉
