DJ MacLeod’s reel

A gorgeous, lively pipe reel - second tune in the opening track to Battlefield Band’s Time and Tide album. The phrasing in the A part plays around a bit with the down beat but it just adds to energy of the tune. Would love to know who composed it!

I first heard this tune on an album by piper Gael Rutkowski and accordion player Sebastien Lagrange about 10 years ago and was obsessed with it. They play it in G on the accordion and French cornemuse but being a Scottish pipe tune I’ve transcribed it in the Highland pipe scale. They call it the Ness Pipers on their recording which is the tune that Battlefield Band follows it with.
