Arkle Mountain

This reel was composed by Manchester banjo player Tony O’ Sullivan ( aka Sully ).

It is included in a set by Gerry (Fiddle )O`Connor and Dessie Wilkinson on a classic album “Cosa gan Broga”

It’s the first Irish Trad tune I learned - from Sully’s tune book,
years before I played in any session. And nobody plays it in sessions.

I love the tune - learnt it off Brendan Larrisey’s Flick of the Wrist, but he play’s it very fast - it gains an extra bit of magic played slower. On Flick of the Wrist CD it’s called Gerry O’Connor’s which is why it’s hard to find, and makes sense of johnny’s comment above.

Arkle Mountain, X:2

This version is approximately what Joey Abarta plays on the second track of the “Copley Street” album.
