This tune appears to be derived from the James Scott Skinner quickstep The Lovat Scouts http://www.abdn.ac.uk/scottskinner/display.php?ID=JSS0705
In the North East of Scotland, there is also a song set to it but the words are decidedly dodgy!

My mistake

The firts three dots ot the second bar of the B part are wrong.
The should be BGB instead of GBG.

The melody, especially the “A” part, is similar to the song “Rose of Aranmore” recorded by Beginish on their CD of the same name. The song makes a lovely air on flute or whistle.

Pages 14 & 15, tune #24: “The Meenotogues Lad”

I would have most likely picked this up from Johnny O’Leary, or someone else in the area, so can’t account for the differences I have in it as compared to the Terry Moylan transcription. I’d love to know if others have a similar version, and to see them, as there were other ways I was also remembering and finding. Here is an approximation of the longer transcription found in the book, basically AABB, without a first and second ending ~
