From the Lunasa recording - a fun tune to play!
Anyone have the English translation for ‘an sioda’? Maybe "the silk"?
When learning the tune (on the pipes) I found it helpful to put a EFG triplet in the first bar, gives you a way to force your fingers around that unusual BGAEGD sequence. Lunasa’s version has frequent use of the same triplet in it, and it also sets off the bottom D nicely.
Single jig, shurely?
great tune. does not sound like a slide though.
In the Lunasa book, Notai, they explain that, although it originated as a slide (12/8) they play it more like a jig
Ronan Browne and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh
Maire O’Keeffe used to call it Padraig O’Keeffe’s. It is also in Ceol Rince na hÉireann Vol. 5 as "Is Your Wallet Made Of Silk?"

Luv this tune
Re: An Sioda
This is in O’Neill’s 1001 as a jig (#140). It’s not exact, but clearly the same tune.
