I got this tune by ear off a De Dannan album. I think they call it the Chicken Reel. I used the Amazing slow Downer program you can get free off the net. All comments welcome
I am so proud of this website. We were having a little question today about including the Chicken Reel in a set of reels.
I sez “if it’s in the session tune bank, then it’s by ned alright to play it”
Darned if it’s not right there.
and that was the end of the discussion.
This is called “Jimmy Kelly’s” on YVonne Casey’s album. Hopefully it’s a ligit name but this (The Chicken) was the only tune that Tunefunder could come up with. Perhaps I should try it in some other key’s and see what it finds? …later.
This is not “The Chicken ” reel at all. “De Danann” did record this tune as “Jimmy Kelly’s” on “How The West Was Won”. The first tune in the set was “The Chicken Reel”, which is posted here elsewhere, I seem to remember, and this was the third.

“banjaxbanjo” who posted both tunes didn’t seem to have realised that “The Chicken Reel” has more than 2 parts. The “settings” by “nicholas” and “Pierre Laily” [ abcs in “comments” ] are more accurate.
