Unfortunately I dont have a name for this tune. I am looking for some suggestions for chords to accompany this tune and would love to hear your ideas. Thanks.
This is a Paddy Fahy tune… and it’s called… Paddy Fahy’s… of course.
A great tune Carrie which is rarely heard at sessions but deserves to be heard a lot more. A couple of possible variations are suggested as follows:-
Bar 4 of first part could be played as "GAG E2 G"
Bar 8 of first part could also be played as "ECB, C3"
Bar 4 of second part could be played as "Acf afd"
Not the reel from Northern lights !
If you’re here from the link "Paddy Fahy’s" On "Northern Lights (Kevin ans Seamus Glackin)". The correct link is www.thesession.org/tunes/2940
Here’s another setting from fiddler Brid Dunne.

Another Name
This tune has also been recorded as the Robin’s Nest. I have it on a CD by the box player Johnny Connolly who now lives in Portland ("Bridgetown"), but there are others.

See https://thesession.org/tunes/5776 for a transcription of Sean Ryan’s "Robin’s Nest" - a slightly different tune, especially in the B-part. I’ve never heard the Sean Ryan tune in any session I’ve been to, but I’ve heard this Paddy Fahy tune quite often.
Maybe this is Paddy Fahy’s version of Sean Ryan’s composition.
Or it could be the other way round. Think of Twilight In Portroe/Dawn, Bill McEvoy’s #1/Nervous Man, and also similarities between tunes like Dash To Portobello and the Hunter’s Purse.
Played by Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill on the Feakle Festival CD: https://thesession.org/recordings/display/2863
Also played by Seamus Bugler on track 12 of https://thesession.org/recordings/display/2183

Not sure where the No. 9 came from - this is Jig No. 2 in Holohan’s thesis. And Paddy uses the ‘e’
