I BELIEVE this is the second tune in the second set off of Lunasa’s recent recording “Redwood.” Excellent tune. Whenever I pick up the flute, that tune, since I learned it, is usually the first one to come out.

Those first three bars almost sound like ‘The Cock and the Hen’.

This is how I play it. I got the bulk of this setting off Sean Ryan at Willie Week 2009, and due to the amount of booze I consumed that week I may well have mis-remembered at least some of the setting. I do like it this way though, even if it’s not exactly the way Junior Crehan composed it:
