The Road To The Glen reel

As played by Pierre Schryer and Dermot Byrne on their excellent collaboration. They follow it up with Pigeon on the Gate, but in G minor and with hardly any resemblance to the version posted here.

This is one of my favorite Reavy tunes. I learned it from Randal Bays and Joel Bernstein’s recording, “Pigtown Fling.” Below are the ABCs for that setting.

Ed Reavy tune ~ this is a great tune by Ed Reavy which was recently recorded by Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill. The transcription is taken directly from the book ‘The Collected Compositions of Ed Reavy’. Martin and Dennis play the tune in Bb Dorian. ~ this is a note for note transcription of the tune in Reavy’s book.

For flute players try this in Eminor, Fits better
Aminor is well high and Gminor has a lot of Bb and Fnat.
