way to go Gian! great tune from one of my favorite albums.
Hey i no that!
yeah i learnt this one @ a workshop in Maghery N.Ireland summerschool. but we didnt learn the third part.
lovely tune.
Third Part is from “Kitty O’Neil’s”
Padraig O‘Keeffe added third part to “The Smoky Chimney,” but he lifted from an old American “sand dance” called after the dancer Kitty O’Neil. O‘Keeffe may have gotten it out of one of the several tune books that included the old two-part version of Kitty’s tune, which was later expanded into the seven-part “Kitty O’Neil’s Champion Jig” (aka “Kitty O’Shea”).
Re: The Smoky Chimney
This is “Johnston’s Hornpipe” in Koehler
Re: The Smoky Chimney
And “Ivy Leaf” in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection, where it is attributed to Zeke Backus
