Six comments

D version

I think the original version of this Graham Townsend tune was in C but this setting is maybe more session friendly.

Apparently, Pat the Budgie perched on Graham’s bow while he played.

C version

The version on Time On Our Hands uses the 2nd part as an intro and then goes roughly like this (with loads of variations):

X: 1
T: Pat The Budgie
M: 4/4
L: 1/8
R: reel
K: Cmaj

There’s a delightful version on Dan Isaacson’s wonderful record, "Simple System." I think he calls it "Pat the Bugie."

I like it in C

My C/C# box has the accidentals so it becomes another good tune to develop my technique on this box and to think I’ve only just found it. Can anyone tell me more about Graham Townsend?
Thank you Dr Dow & Johnny Jay

Re: Pat The Budgie

I learned this tune off the Nightingale album "The Coming Dawn," where they call it "Pat de Budgie"- I’m assuming this is the French name. Just edited the tune to include this name and album. I think their version is in C.
