Dominic’s

This jig was composed by Josie McDermott. The story goes that Josie, Dominic Cosgrove, and Peg McGrath were returning from a fleadh in 1969. During the craic, someone suggested that “they break a window to let them know we were there.” Instead of breaking a window, Josie composed this tune…in twenty minutes.

The first part is nearly identical to the Legacy.

Re: Dominic’s Farewell To Cashel

Had the pleasure of meeting Dominic Cosgrove’s son purely by chance a while ago in Dublin and he talked about Josie writing this tune for his father. Dominic ran pubs in Culfadda and then Boyle, both great houses for music.
