Lady Mary Hay’s Scotch Measure - Swarbrick
I’ve got this on Swarb’s Live at Jackson’s Lane CD - Swarb’s introduction is great - something along the lines of:
"Just in case you were wondering, the Scotch Measure doesn’t refer to a tot of whisky, but to a type of dance now defunct, and after you’ve heard this, maybe you’ll understand why!"
He then proceeds to play the tune at breakneck speed (yet cleanly)!
Re: Lady Mary Haye’s Scotch Measure
I discovered this classic tune just recently, and I am impressed by its melodic energy.
Here is my arrangement of Lady Mary Hay’s Scots Measure:

The full arrangement will be available from later today in The Weaver MacFarlane Choon Book, a collection of some 40 plus arrangements for 2 fiddle lines, and cello, and comping instruments. The book is a free download available from http://cracklingsmarts.com (a secure and safe site hosted by MelbourneIT).
