at a session at Willie Clancy Week about 12+ years ago. She played the Moreina Waltz (written by Barney McKenna I believe) with it. Are either of these tunes recorded?
This tune was actually composed by another Dubliner-Fiddler John Sheehan, not Barney.John recorded the tune on an album with a guitar player called Michael Howard(I think…)
It’s The MARINO waltz
The Trip to Broadford was composed by a Clare accordion player, Kieran Donnellan, who played that tune for Josefine Marsh who gave it to Sharon Shanon… (I know that from the composer himself). Himself play another waltz before (which is not the Marino), both tunes in A (3 sharps).
