Eight comments

This Quebecois reel has trickled into the New England contradance repetoire by way of Kerry Elkin, Becky Tracy and others. I think it was written by accordionist Phillipe Bruneau.

Liz Doherty - Last Orders

Liz Doherty plays it in reverse on "Last Orders"

Manus McGuire - Saffron and Blue

Manus McGuire plays this version:

Le 24 Juin, X:3

Combination of settings here, and other settings online. Lovely tune.

Le 24 Juin, X:4

Similar to the previous setting, but with a few different variations, a different ending, and half the number of bars.

Patti has this one on one of her albums ("Milestone"), really nice playing at that.

The composer (Phillipe), Leopold Tremblay and Gaston Nolet:

In the info of the last video, they say that Phillipe dedicated the tune (name) to Quebecers and their Patron Saint. They celebrate Jean-Baptiste on June 24th.

Have enjoyed all of the recordings of this tune. Còig have a really nice recording on their album "Five". George Penk, Clyde Curley, & Susan Songer play a slower tempo version (with a third part) on one of the Portland albums. Pierre Schryer & Liz Doherty both fiddle it pretty quickly on their albums "The New Canadian Waltz", and "Last Orders", respectively. And the Mary Cay Brass recording of Le Juin 24 is also in a fun set of tunes.

Le 24 Juin, X:5

A whistle friendlier setting. Play with a C whistle. The major part will have a few tricky notes, but have eliminated most of them while keeping harmonizing notes to the original for the alternatives.
