As published in a book called "Irish Traditional Music, Session Tunes" by Anthony Sullivan.
There is another version of it in O

Sean Nos Words w/ translation

S

Sean Nos?

I always heard it with accompaniment. Interesting.
And there’s also there’s three verses, as well as the chorus yu posted.

Kevin Conneff sings to this melody on The Chieftains’ "Boil the Breakfast Early."

After hearing this song on an Altan CD, my 5-year-old likes to sing

- sheet of one boy, sheet of one boy, sheet of one boy , goin’ to Connecticut.

Padraig O’Keefe

Just heard an interview (archived) on RTE, where Padraig O’Keefe was stated as writing a tune with the name "Hag with the Money".

It’s often played with C#s instead of C naturals.

what’s this big obsession with transposing tunes into Emix Jack?

Emix/Bmin(?)

When playing through the Emix vesrion I forgot the G# (B partonly anyway) - and that’s another possible way to play the tune 😉

The Hag With The Money

This is the title John McGrath used on the tune when he wrote it for his students.

Finbar Furey Version

Another great piping tune by the great Finbar Furey, his back ‘D’ tripling in this version is just amazing, took me years to work out what he was doing. You should listen to his version before trying the dots.

The Hag With The Money, X:10

This (X:10) is a version of the variant X:9 of the jig posted above.
This variant, another regular jig (32 bars), is as close as it gets to the original song without showing the extra beats that characterise it.
( Many other sung jigs are characterised by extra beats or bars -or missing ones.)

Pipers will relish the ghost D ( shown as Eb here) which is an inflexion found in sean-nós singing.
Tip:
Play any ddd / ded / d_ed (_e = Eb) group of quavers interchangeably…
