John O’Connor

This is a tune by O’Carolan, as I heard it on the album "Chieftains 7".

There’s a 2-part setting of this in The Athole Collection, entitled ‘The Belfast Almanac’. I can’t post it here because my copy of the book is in Latvia and I am in London.

Gan Ainm

Scottish jig from an anonymous tune book, ca 1830.

Re: Gan Ainm

I’ve heard this before somewhere, for some reason I’m thinking "Carolan" and possibly "The Chieftains".

Known in dancing circles as "The Belfast Almanac" - see Gow, etc.

…ah, I see spindleshanks has come up with the answer - good stuff.
