Three comments

Allan Ramsey

A Scottish jig.

About ‘details’ in the ‘comments’ ~ quite often I haven’t any, sorry. A lot of the music I have was transcribed from albums that used to be in Antwerp City Library. I was doing it for my own amusement and didn’t taake full notes. I never dreamed that anyone else would be interested. How was I to know that the library would go digital and dump all their records? I also have recorded sessions and I’d transcribe any tunes that caught my fancy. Not wanting to disturb the flow of the tunes I tended not to ask for the names. Sometimes I would, but more often than not the person I’d asked didn’t know anyway. So, I have manuscript books full of "gan aimns" and tunes that I know bugger all about but like. Some people here at ‘TheSession.Org’ have had a go at me for not supplying details in the comments for tunes I’ve contributed but it’s not me being awkward, I just don’t know and I haven’t the time to chase them up on the net.

2 Allan Ramseys

There were two Allan Ramseys in Scottland, a father and ason in the 17th and 18th century.
The father was a poet and the son, a painter.
I wonder to which one the tune makes reference.
