This is one of the slides I played with Leeds Ceili Band some months ago. Nobody had the name for it. I found a couple of similar tunes in the database of this site, but they aren’t quite the same.
Any information will be welcome.
Dawley’s Delight
Cheers Dow for informing the title of this slide and reminding me of the tune itself. I nearly forgot about it.
A transcription of this slide, under the name ‘The Scart’, appears in David Taylor’s 1995 collection "Music of Ireland: A Mighty Tune!". Another transcription appears under this title in Dave Mallinson’s brand-new book "100 Popular Irish Session Tunes". Finally, Andrew Kuntz gives a version as ‘The Scart Slide’ on his Fiddler’s Companion website.
Dawley’s Delight
This also appears on Jimmy Crowley’s & Stoker’s Lodge Album "Camphouse Ballads" -
Played by the great Cork piper Eoghan O’Riabhaig, after Jimmy’s song "As I went down to the Coal Quay" - The lads called it "Jackie Daly’s Slide" - Lovely version and a nice end to a local, Cork City song !
